Intellectual property is something that affects all of us on a daily basis, yet too few Americans know anything about it. In this fifth and final video of the series, I give you a number of solutions to the problem. Some of these were proposed by former RSC staffer Derek Khanna and some are based on my personal views for what we should do to address our current IP situation.
Remember, IP abuses have been shown to greatly hinder startups and small businesses which are the biggest job creators in America. Studies also show that IP abuse cost the economy over $29 billion in 2014. Neither takes into account what our economy could do if we altered our intellectual property laws. The potential is unknown, but still vastly superior to what we have now.
Please keep this in mind. The next time someone complains about job growth, look at IP problems. The next time someone moans about medicine costs, look at IP problems. The next time the federal budget comes under attack, look at what IP reforms can do instead of accepting costs as is and cutting benefits to those involved. Intellectual property is the shadow demon afflicting our nation. It's time to shine a light upon it.
